The Soul(s) of the Sea
A recent commission request gifted me the delightful opportunity to try to capture the colours, textures, and soul of the sea. When I receive a commission request for a small or medium artwork, I usually create a few artworks that meet the commission brief. Mostly it’s because I’m having fun and I enjoy working on a few canvases at the same time – it keep me in the flow! But I also love to be able to offer collectors a choice. (And sometimes they surprise me and take them all!) The ocean has so many personalities, and she shows different sides of herself for different coastlines and weather patterns, so I enjoyed exploring various sides to the soul of the sea through these 4 artworks…
Her power
In these two pieces I wanted to capture her depth and power, the really expansive and dark side of her that’s awe-inspiring, can be hard to fathom, and should be enjoyed with caution and respect.
Her playfulness
In these two pieces I wanted to capture her joy, vitality, playfulness, and translucency; her crisp, clear, and cold tingle, and the splashes, bubbles and foam that she gently tosses into the air as she invites you to come in and play.
