Exploring colours within colours
I’ve been taking a class and loving the stuff we’ve covering on colour theory. Mixing colours is so meditative, and I love seeing the new colours that emerge, especially when you add white to a dark colour and the underlying colours within the dark colour are revealed.
Would you believe that this painting was made using just 2 colours and black and white?!
Which 2 colours would you guess I used?
It’s a famous limited colour palette that dates back to the 1920’s, named after a Swedish portrait artist called Anders Zorn.
Cadmium red, yellow ocre, white, and black. Here’s my palette… such fun!
